Marshall refusing to listen on home solar and batteries

Steven Marshall is refusing to listen to South Australian households with home solar and batteries and the broader industry, amid sweeping changes to laws regulating the sector.

Steven Marshall’s changes mean home batteries wouldn’t work in a blackout, home solar panels could be switched off remotely and households will be “worse off financially”.

The industry is warning the changes are being rushed, creating confusion and will bring the sector to a standstill with significant job losses.

Solar panel retailers say the Marshall Liberal Government is warning there will be a ban on new solar panels unless these changes are implemented.

Despite industry speaking out yesterday about the changes, Steven Marshall is refusing to listen.

Quotes attributable to Shadow Minister for Energy Tom Koutsantonis

Steven Marshall has turned his back on South Australian households with home solar and batteries by refusing to listen to concerns raised by the industry.

South Australians have invested in solar panels and batteries in good faith.

They have made these investments to do their bit for the environment and to save money on their power bills.

The clear message we’re getting from the industry is that the government’s handling of these changes has been shambolic.
